In the midst of the pandemic, a Charlottesville City Council member has proposed a bold and necessary change: a redesigned city seal.

Apparently triggered by a “cannon” icon and imagery of the University of Virginia Rotunda (as designed by the “rapist-racist” Thomas Jefferson) on the present version of the logo, Vice Mayor Sena Magill, suggested the revision:

“I don’t think our current city logo reflects us as a city. We have changed. We have been reexamining who we are and I think a logo is pretty important with that.”

Magill’s motion for transformation was supported by her council colleagues, including avowed Democrat Socialist, Michael Payne, who suggested a design contest in order to involve the community in the process.

Here, for City Council’s consideration is the first entry in the “Design a New Logo for Charlottesville” contest, submitted by Schilling Show host, Rob Schilling.

In anticipation of the design’s acceptance by City Council, a full line of Democratic Socialist Republic of Charlottesville merchandise—mugs, hats, t-shirts, and bumper stickers—is available now for purchase. Click to order:

  1. Charlottesville going to hell in a hand basket.Always wanting to change history. I will be shopping in Harrisonburg, Waynesboro and other surrounding localities rather than spend my money here.

  2. What a pathetic little one-trick town. A city that regularly takes millions annually in excess of what it needs from hardworking taxpayers wants to spend some of its largesse on frivolity. It is frightening to think that the same minds who–in concert with McAuliffe in Richmond–orchestrated the events leading to three deaths in 2017 are still managing the city EXCEPT…with an exponential growth I radicalism. I shudder to imagine where Chville will be in 2030.

  3. From the comments above, one would think the city had actually adopted Rob’s sarcastic alternative. Charlottesville is pathetic town that has gone to the dark side and is going to hell in a handbasket, all because the vice-mayor, no doubt unhappy with honoring a cause that would have left her ancestors enslaved (now there’s “tyranny” for you) proposes removing it?

Would it be frivolity, Forbes, to remove the hammer and sickle and other socialist symbols from the city seal if they were actually there? I guess it’s just frivolity when they remove symbols of other people’s lack of freedom.
