Burley drug coverup The Schilling Show

Several Burley Middle School administrators and staff have been placed on leave by Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS) following an attempted incident cover-up.

Sources close to the school assert that the underlying event may involve administrative/staff collusion in effort to conceal a drug offense at Burley, which effort later was reported to Central Office.

According to an all-staff email, sent to the school by ACPS Assistant Superintendent, Clare Keiser, Principal Kasaundra Blount and Assistant Principal Michael Combs were “unexpectedly absent” from their posts:

Good morning, Burley Middle School Staff.

As you may know, both Kasaundra Blount and Michael Combs are unexpectedly absent this week. We understand that changes in leadership, even temporary, can create questions, and we want to ensure you are informed about leadership coverage to minimize any confusion or uncertainty.

Currently, central office leaders are providing leadership support at the school. In his capacity as Executive Director of Secondary Education, Jay Thomas will serve as the point person for any on-site needs during their absence.

We thank you for your understanding, and for the work that you do each day to support our students.

Clare Keiser
Assistant Superintendent for Organizational Development
Albemarle County Public Schools

Other correspondence regarding this incident—as obtained by The Schilling Show and disseminated internally by a school union representative—confirms that there is an “acting administrator” at the school and requests that all related communication be done surreptitiously:

Much like last year, if you know of another colleague’s personal email, and they are NOT on this email chain, please forward them in the email, using ONLY their personal & non-school email address.

ACPS officials did not respond to a request for more information prior to publication time.

This is a developing story based on unconfirmed reports. Updates will be provided as received.
