A series of fights, involving at least four Charlottesville High School (CHS) students, took place today at the school.

Caught on video and posted to social media, the altercation was serious enough (and public enough) to warrant a school-wide email notice (published below) from new principal, Dr. Justin Malone.

Over the past several years, under inept, feckless leadership, CHS had become known for violent brawls. Malone and his cohorts have vowed to change the school’s unfortunate, rough reputation.

CHS Fight September 19, 2024 The Schilling Show

Dear staff, students, and families-

This morning during third period, there was a student fight in the B hallway and the atrium. Four students were involved in total. As they addressed the situation, CHS administrators asked teachers and students to stay in their classrooms (the “stay put, stay tuned” protocol) for about 10 minutes.

The four students who were involved in this situation left the school with their families. We will pursue disciplinary action as appropriate. Thanks to our staff and particularly several teachers and our CAs for their prompt attention.

Our lunch periods and the remainder of the afternoon followed normal schedules and routines. Thanks as always to our staff and students for following safety protocols.

Thank you,
Dr. Malone
