In a 7-4 vote, the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail Authority Board agreed to continue its policy of notifying United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) upon the impending release of certain illegal aliens.

Voting to discontinue ICE notification:

  • Wes Bellamy, Charlottesville City Councilor
  • Mike Murphy, Interim Charlottesville City Manager
  • Kristin Clarens, Charlottesville Citizen Representative
  • Lawton Tufts, Joint Member City & County Representative

A raucous crown of violent anarchists disrupted the meeting throughout with obscene outbursts and direct physical threats to those who spoke in favor of policy retention.

Upon the meeting’s conclusion a cursing mob descended on two pro-retention speakers who were attempting to access their vehicles. Police intervention was required for the participants’ protection.

  1. Inexcusable. On the other hand, however, they don’t shoot up churches and synagogues, or run people over. If you only speak up when your side is wronged, and you never criticize or even mention the people on your side – the ones who might actually listen to you – your complaint isn’t principled, it’s just selfish.

  2. Is this the same freak show who got in a young man’s face at the Robert E Lee monument screaming Eff you over and over again?

  3. One of them just shot up a middle school. Anyone who says those shooting up churches or synagogues and running people over aren’t condemned by those on both the right and left is a liar seeking to justify the means to an end.

  4. Ken is vociferous in his 1-word description of the mob misbehavior as “inexcusable” whilst dedicating 53 words to moral (or immoral) equivalence. Your outrage at this is duly noted.

  5. Apparently you put yelling and cursing on the same moral level as murder, Forbes. As a matter of fact, I don’t.
